Lavender is an aromatic perennial evergreen shrub in the mint family. Its woody stems bear lavender or purple flowers from late spring to early autumn. Lavender is native to the Mediterranean, but now cultivated in cool-winter, dry-summer areas in Europe and the Western United States.

Lavender has many uses in culinary preparations, beauty routines, and spiritual practices.

The flower of lavender is used to make different remedies to help with the following:

  • anxiety, depression, headaches,
  • sleep problems such as insomnia,
  • alopecia areata,
  • postoperative pain
  • infectious disease (bacterial and viral), and
  • skin infection.
